Having just over 10 years experience in travel, working for Thomson Holidays for the majority of this time, I am now working at Viceroy Travel, as I feel my heart is in independent travel. I have been lucky enough to have travelled extensively throughout the world but I still have many more places I would like to visit. Over the past few years I have visited Cuba, Kenya, Mexico and Morocco, to name but a few, but Egypt is my favourite destination so far. From land based holidays to cruising I have gained expertise in them all and nothing pleases me more than to be able to share my destination knowledge with customers. It also gives me great satisfaction to find the right holiday to suit my customer’s needs. Using my own personal experiences I have a great in-depth knowledge and understanding of disabled travel and the needs of travellers with disabilities.
I have been fortunate to visit Kenya for a Safari Holiday. The sights and sounds you get to witness do not do any of the TV documentaries justice. I have seen the birth of animals on the plains of Masai Mara, the kill of a Cheatah and the watering hole of Elephants and the rest of the Big-Five. Topping off the Safari experience was dining under the stars out in the bush just looking up at the sky and listening to the sounds of the wildlife.
The culture and cuisine of the Mexican way of life was what I was most looking forward to and the resort of Cancun did not disappoint. Walking around with hotels and shops to one side of the road and swamps to the other was a shock to the system. It is not just about drinking tequila in Coco Bongos watching the show there is another side to Mexico that is just as exciting to see. I visited Chichen Itza, which was once the capital of the ancient Mayan civilization and was recently declared one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
For me nothing can beat going back to Morocco time and time again. This is one of my favourite holiday destinations. Morocco offers a varied culture and experience. Whether you’re looking for a bargain in one of the many ‘souks’ in the Medinas of Marrakech or the cosmopolitan beach lifestyle of Agadir, there really is something for everyone in this treasure of North Africa.
Having just returned from Lapland I really cant stop smiling about the great time I had in Lapland. See my latest blog for more information on my trip.
I was very sceptical about cruising before I went on my first voyage. How wrong I was! The technological advances in cruise ship design meant I couldn’t feel the ship moving at all. What amazed me the most was waking up the next day in a different destination. How many times can you say you have visited several countries and only had to unpack once? The ship is just one part of the experience, so go ashore to visit the towns and cities that are included in the cruise itinerary to experience the local culture and people.
Using my own personal experience I have a great in-depth knowledge and understanding of disabled travel and the needs of travellers with disabilities. The various requirements and procedures that the different tour operators, airlines and cruise companies specify is something I pride myself in knowing. I have experienced these services first hand, so it does help when providing that little extra help. I can also assist with hiring a wheelchair abroad or booking a room that is adapted to your needs. I listen to customer requirements in a way that makes them feel comfortable and at ease.
